Havana Chapman-Edwards
Havana Chapman-Edwards is 11-year-old, and her family serves as United States diplomats, currently in Frankfurt, Germany. She is a passionate community organizer, philanthropist, public speaker, and humanitarian as well as an actor and model.
Havana was featured on NBC’s Little Big Shots (Season 4 Episode 11) and Dear… on Apple TV Plus and will be appearing in an upcoming climate justice documentary.
She started a book club with her children’s choir called Rhymers are Readers #37books and from 2018-2019, she has raised over $40,000 for girl’s education around the world. This includes books, school supplies, toiletries, transportation and clothing. She designed the “Unstoppable” clothing line where all proceeds go to her non-profit.
Havana has been featured on the cover of TIME Magazine for her gun violence prevention advocacy. She has also been featured on the Today Show, CNN, CNN International, ABC News, Brut Media, Good Morning America, Good Morning Washington, Blavity, CBC , Modern Ghana, and Women You Should Know for her philanthropic and activist efforts in the areas of education, gun violence prevention, climate justice, as well as other human rights for children.
She has been a keynote speaker for national events including March For Our Lives, Sunrise Movement, Moms Demand Action, This is Zero Hour, National School Walkout, National Die-In, Fridays for Future/United States Climate Strike, Shattering the Silence, and Students Demand Action. In July 2019, Havana led a sit-in in front of the Democratic National Committee headquarters and was featured on Grist Magazine during the Democratic debate.
She serves on the Advisory Council for Girls Who Code since 2018 as well featured on Girls Who Code Sisterh>>d digital album. She is a member of the Kids Board of Directors for KidBox for 2019-2020. She is also on the Youth Executive Board of Dreams for Kids, a Chicago based non-profit focused on replacing charity with opportunity.
She was featured by Lululemon for their global campaign for International Day of the Girl in 2019 as well as featured on The Sweat Life Podcast produced by Makers Women and Lululemon. In Fall 2019, Havana was invited to speak about her advocacy for girl’s education both at the International High Level Conference on Educating for the Rule of Law at the United Nations in Vienna, Austria and the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw, Poland.
Havana was honored as one of the Teen Vogue “21 Under 21” Class of 2018 for her advocacy for human rights for girls around the world. She was also given the Distinction of Hope Award in 2019 from the AME denomination for her community service in the African American community. Additionally, she was honored by the Today Show as one of the 18 under 18 Groundbreakers in 2019.
